Easter Treats

I usually try to make little treats for my coworkers for different holidays. This year I just ran out of time, so I decided to just buy some cookies and take them into the office for everyone to share. But at least I added a little 4x4 note card.

I used Simply Charmed for the chick and added ribbon. The sentiment and chick are on foam tape for dimension.

Happy Easter!

Baby's First Easter

With Easter coming up this weekend, I wanted to share the layout I created recently from last year. (Sorry for the poor-quality photos. I'm finding it difficult to photograph layouts.)

I used Create a Critter for the bunny and stickers for the title. I also added ribbon and used a border punch for details. All of the embellishments are from my stash, and most are about two years old.

It was my daughter's first Easter, so we went a little overboard with her "basket." I used a storage container for all her goodies, and now the cube holds some of her toys.

Thanks!

Feels Like Spring

I am so excited because my card today is being featured on Use it Tuesday, which is a great challenge blog that encourages you to use your craft stash.

The theme this week was all about spring, and I couldn't wait to go through my horded supplies to make my card.

I have had the dark pink paper I used for the base for almost two years. The patterned paper was part of a prize package, and it is the only sheet I have, so I've been saving it. I even made a 6x6 card to make sure I used as much as possible. Here is a close-up of the paper. I thought it was perfect for the challenge!

I used pink and green twine, and both were unopened packages before I used them for this card. The "hello" stamp was un-inked, even though I've had that for more than a year. The star brad on the pinwheel was also from an unopened package I've had for about two years. The tag was cut from George and Basic Shapes on my Cricut.

Inside the card I added another pinwheel from the Create a Critter cartridge.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you join the fun at Use it Tuesday.

Little Easter Lamb

I set out to make an Easter card, but I wanted to use something other than the classic bunny or chick. So I looked through Create a Critter and found the cute little lamb.

The tree and Easter basket are also from Create a Critter. I hand-cut the grass at the bottom of the card. Finally, I dug through my stash to find a few pearls to use on the bows and as "eggs" in the basket.

Thanks!

Go Fly a Kite -- We Did!

A few weeks ago we went to the Zilker Park Kite Festival in Austin. It is a great event and we had a blast, even though one of our kites ended up in a tree.

Last year was my daughter's first time at the event, and I was reminded that I haven't added those pictures to her scrapbook. So here's the layout from last year's festival.

I used Create a Critter for the kites and Simply Charmed for the phrase "take flight" at the bottom. I used stickers for the title and added coordinating ribbon.

We used that tiny ladybug kite again this year, and we were much better flying it. We could barely get it off the ground last year. We had a bigger version of the ladybug this year, but that was the one that ended up in a tree.

Favorite Peep

I wanted to share a quick Easter card I made using the cute chick from Simply Charmed. I've never used him before, but he is adorable and really easy to layer.

I put him on pop dots for dimension and added a fun stamp that I used for the first time.

Baby Bunny

It's almost Easter, so I wanted to share a simple card I made using the Simply Charmed cartridge. I've never used this cute bunny, and I'm glad I finally did.

When I was putting together this card, I didn't find a background paper that I liked in my stash, so I made my own. I pulled out uninked Easter egg stamps and used them for the background. I used ink that I've had for a while, but don't normally use. The pastel inks are perfect for this time of year. The ribbon also was a scrap that I found.

Here's the inside.

Happy Go Lucky

I was going through my paper pads, looking for something for Easter, when I came across paper with shamrocks all over it. I've had it for a while, and I completely forgot about it!

So, of course, I had to whip up something with it. I made a simple 4x4 card in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

The stamps are colored with a Sharpie, and the pieces are popped up on foam tape. I also added a little twine.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Negative to Positive

I was going through my patterned papers recently, doing a little inventory of what I have. I came across a lovely paper covered in flowers that I've never used before and was inspired.

My favorite color is red, especially a bright, cheery red, and I love how the flowers remind me of wildflowers that are starting to pop up as the weather warms up here. I cut the flowers from Create a Critter, but I used the negative of the cut. I then put coordinating paper behind it.

The mat for the stamp is also from Create a Critter. I finished off the card with red ribbon and gems for the flowers. Inside the card I used the positive part of the cut.

Snail Mail

I made a quick birthday card recently since I'm trying to build up my stash. As a bonus, I made a dent in my scraps pile.

I'm also trying to use cuts from my Cricut cartridges that I've never used before. This snail is from Paisley, which is one of the first cartridges I bought. I realized there are a lot of cuts on that cartridge that I've never used, so I plan on changing that.

I love this color combo; it think it's perfect for a little boy. Here's the inside.

Clever Clovers

I wanted to make a card with four-leaf clovers in honor of St. Patrick's Day, but I didn't have any Cricut cartridges with that cut. My collection is still pretty small, and while I do have a cartridge with St. Patrick's Day images, it doesn't have clovers.

So I improvised. I found a flower on my Paisley cartridge that I thought might work. The "clover" is one of the button features on that cartridge.

The stamp was the inspiration for the entire card. I put some of the clovers on foam dots for dimension and added ribbon.

I left the inside of the card blank to write a note.

Teacher Appreciation Day

My daughter just started day care last week for the first time ever. Of course, we were nervous, but she seems to really be enjoying it, especially arts and crafts. I think she gets that from me.

The school celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day last week. Even though my daughter had only been there for a few days, I wanted to make something special for her teachers. They have been really great at helping my daughter adjust to her new environment.

I made these treat bags using Simply Charmed for the crayons. I added a little glitter glue for sparkle. I thought this stamp was perfect for the bags because it looks like a child's writing. The great thing about this type of project is that I was able to dig into my scrap collection. Everything was made using scraps.

1st St. Patrick's Day Layout

I've been trying to catch up with my scrapbooking layouts from my daughter's first year, and I just finished her St. Patrick's Day layout. I apologize for the poor picture quality. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to photograph these. It would probably help if I took the pictures during the day, instead of around midnight. : )

I used a combination of stickers, stamps and the Simply Charmed cartridge for this page.

I used the pot of gold for journaling and added glitter glue. The border punch is so cute, but I don't use it as often as I should.

This is a cute picture of my niece and my daughter at a baseball game. After the baseball game, we went to a football game. It was an interesting St. Patrick's Day.

I love this leprechaun from Simply Charmed!

The Just Us Girls blog is featuring a sketch challenge, and I decided to use it to make a birthday card. I've been trying to build my stash little by little, so I came up with this bright, cheery card perfect for a little boy.

The bear and hat are from Create a Critter. I put the bear on foam tape for a little dimension, and added the yellow gems.

Franken-Birthday

My dad's birthday was on March 1, and he likes to make a big deal about it. I wanted to make a card that would make him laugh, so this is what I came up with.

My dad's favorite holiday is Halloween, and his favorite character is Frankenstein, so I knew he would love this. It also gave me a chance to use my new Happy Hauntings cartridge. I've been eyeing it for a while, and finally snagged it on eBay. I thought I would have to wait until the fall to use it, but I found a way to use it sooner.

The gift bag, party hat and thought bubbles are from Create a Critter. I also added glitter glue for some sparkle, and the cuts are on foam tape for dimension.

Thanks!

Hoppy Easter

With Easter coming in March this year, I wanted to start on cards. This is a quick card I made using Create a Critter.

The cute bunny is holding an Easter basket, and I used glitter glue to look like eggs. The grass is on foam tape for a little dimension.

I added ribbon and this cute stamp that I used for the first time. It's a really simple card, but not bad for my first one of the year.

Thanks
